Lave Canem

Hello LaundroMuttans,

Gobble Gobble

The inevitability of winter is upon us… or at least it is on the way. I must admit that it was quite peculiar to be wrapping bushes in burlap for the oncoming weather while wearing shorts and flip-flops last weekend. Another fact that may seem aberrant to many of you is the release of our newsletter in the latter half of November. This is our segue to bi-monthly publication. We just could not take the pressure of a monthly edition any longer. Edmund Morrison once said “Like stones, words are laborious and unforgiving, and the fitting of them together, like the fitting of stones, demands great patience and strength of purpose and particular skill.” Yep, what he said.
Occasionally, we may send you updates and notices if there are important events or meetings that demand your attention. Other than those communications, our next newsletter will be released in January, 2006. Until then, enjoy the rest of 2005.

• Doggie Massage

Saturday, November 19th (Tomorrow), Cattie Coyle of Nimble Limbs will be introducing and demonstrating canine massage in the Barkalounge. Massage brings the same health benefits to animals as it does to people: it helps to reduce stress, increase flexibility and movement, enhances circulation and contributes to the overall ability of the body to function properly.
Cattie will be offering 15 minute mini-sessions throughout the day starting at 10am and continuing on until 5pm. Some spaces are already filled. Call LaundroMutt and reserve a session or walk in tomorrow and wait for the next available opening. Maya, our German Shepherd, has already received two massages. She speaks very highly of Cattie.

• Fresh Pond Evening Walking Groups

The days are short,
The sun a spark
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.
~ John Updike

As sunlight is quickly lost to the night, friends with canines find themselves wishing they had company on their evening constitutionals. Many people who do not shutter from the cold are concerned about walking their dog alone after dark. We would like to take a proactive approach to this problem. If you are interested in walking around Fresh Pond Reservoir after work, i.e. after dark, we would like to volunteer our help. Email or call us and we will put you in touch with other Fresh Pond comrades-in-arms. Please indicate which days and at what times you would prefer to walk. It is a great way to connect with and meet new friends and old.

• Mark Your Calender

LaundroMutt will be closed Thursday, November 24th, for Thanksgiving. We postulated that very few people were planning to wash their dogs on Thanksgiving day. We will, however, be open on Friday, November 25th. Alana, our groomer, will be running the shop that day; you and your pooch are sure to be in good hands.

• Pet Portraits

The perfect holiday gift: Dana Berenson of La Muse Photography will be setting up a temporary studio in the BarkaLounge on Saturday, December 3rd. Dana has been professionally photographing dogs and animals of all shapes and sizes for many years in the Boston area. The portraits are archival quality and available in a broad range of sizes, from wallet to wall. Dana will also create custom holiday cards from your photography session. Please call to reserve your session at soon as possible. There are only a limited amount openings left on the 3rd.

• Pick of the Month

What was the only thing tougher than Superman? Kryptonite. Well, LaundroMutt is now featuring dog beds made from Crypton Fabric, a material that has similar indestructible features. With its patented process, Crypton is leading the performance textile industry, being the ONLY textile that is stain, water and bacteria resistant. The key to the super fabric is its weaving process coupled with its proven barrier, nothing gets through Crypton to the bedding… nothing. Muddy Paws? Drool? Bring it on! Your canine companion will rest in style on these fetching beds that resist the toughest stains and odors. They are easy to clean and machine washable.
LaundroMutt will have beds in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. We will also be featuring a few beds upholstered with designs by the photographer/designer William Wegman. The Shipment is on its way and we are already taking orders now. So, if you are shopping for a dog bed, give us a call or stop by at your earliest convenience.

For those of you who missed LaundroMutt featured on the shows Chronicle and the Comcast Morning Show, they are available for viewing on our Press page. The response from the shows, especially Chronicle, was tremendous. Both stations did a wonderful job.
Everyday we have new clients come in to LaundroMutt who have been referred by a friend. Thank you for spreading the word. Our clients are our best advertisement. After all, you helped make us Best of Boston 2005. If you know of other dogs and their owners, please forward this email on to them. And, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please give us a call us or send us an email.

All our best,

Elizabeth, Evan, Maya and Brumby
