Hello to all dogs and the holders of your leash,

• Salutations

Staring out our windows at LaundroMutt into the pouring rain, with the sounds of blow dryers working overtime in the background, I have accepted that the smell of wet dog is no longer confined to LaundroMutt's tub room. The smell now follows me wherever I journey, eight paws trotting along by my side. I have been dressing like the Gordon’s Fisherman for the dog’s morning constitutionals.

• LaundroMutt.com

I understand why those nutty web designers get paid so much… and why they are so nutty. The LaundroMutt website is finally starting to take shape. It is still a little rough around the edges, but then again, so am I. And if you have not figured it out yet, you are on our site right now! Who Knew? This is the first month that the newsletter is delivered as an online document. We realized that many of you were not receiving our newsletter via email accounts due to those ever-vigilant spam filters. We are not spam; we are LaundroMutt! At LaundroMutt.com, you can now access past newsletters (all two of them), directions, business hours, fun links and even laconic biographies on the people behind Laundromutt. It is constantly evolving, so take a peek every now and then.

• Press Coverage

We had an amazing response to the Boston Globe Magazine feature article two weeks ago. The Globe even sent us a lovely plaque proclaiming LaundroMutt as one of Boston’s best new stores of 2005. Since then we have been seeing record numbers of dogs at LaundroMutt. I had no idea there were so many ripe dogs in need of a bath. But, I guess Elizabeth did.
The March 23rd issue of The Improper Bostonian: no article on LaundroMutt. Drat! It turns out that we were bumped to the current April 6th issue. Mopsy Kennedy, the writer from the I.B., called last week to let us know that we had been “shuffled” to the next issue. I did enjoy reading about Boston’s most beautiful bartenders, though.

• BarkaLounge Happenings

March was witness to the first round of doggie birthday parties in the BarkaLounge. It was obvious that Roxie, a one-year-old Samoyed, knew it was HER party. She was absolutely the center of attention. The balloons, ribbons, streamers and treats allowed for quite a festive milieu. All quadrupeds and bipeds had a good time. Soon I will be posting pictures on our website.
This month we will be celebrating several more pooch birthdays. In fact, I have a doggie birthday cake in the icebox right now! The South End’s very own Polka Dog Bakery created the bone-shaped cake especially for LaundroMutt. I guarantee that there will be no leftovers. If you are interested in holding an event in the BarkaLounge, Elizabeth can walk you through all the different packages we offer.

• The Community

LaundroMutt is not just about making dogs sparkle. More often then not, dogs seem to get a bad rap. LaundroMutt also has a long-term mission to help build the dog community and dog awareness. Boston, Cambridge and the surrounding suburbs are home to a staggering population of dogs. Yet, the amount of resources available to dogs with their owners is minimal, at best.
LaundroMutt is forging relationships with other dog groups and businesses to address these issues. Together we will talk to our elected officials, work with other community organizations and host events to promote awareness. You can help by alerting us to events and meetings that affect our best friends and us.

• Pick of the Month

Meat. Dogs love it. We’ve got it. April’s pick of the month is one’s of LaundroMutt’s newest products: Real Meat by Wilderness. These healthy gourmet dog treats are fantastic, dehydrated mini-wafers. Store them in an old Altoids tin or just in your pocket; they are not oily and leave no mess behind. You will be the center of the universe to your dog when you carry these treats.

• Quote

"Ever consider what they must think of us? I mean, here we come back from a grocery store with the most amazing haul – chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we’re the greatest hunters on earth!” - Anne Tyler

• Lave Canem

At Laundromutt, we believe that our clients, both dogs and humans, are our best advertisements. We always appreciate you spreading the word about our little operation. If you know of some dogs out there in need of a bath, please forward this email on to their owners. And, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please give us a call or drop us an email.

Best Wishes,

Elizabeth, Evan, Maya and Brumby
