Hello to all dogs and your people,

• Introduction

March: enters like a lion and leaves like a lamb… we can only hope. Of course that also means MUD season is on its way. Everyone excited? Whadaya mean no! Well, it is a few weeks off. So let’s enjoy our dogs rolling in nothing but nice clean snow for now. There sure is a lot of it.

• Mark Your Calender

Laundromutt is once again receiving some excellent press coverage. We will be featured in the Sunday Boston Globe Magazine on March 13th. The Improper Bostonian is writing us up not long afterwards. Look for us in the March 23rd issue of the I. B. We are very excited to be included in both these well-circulated magazines. If you miss either of these articles, they will be featured on our website… once I figure how to do that.
We would also like everyone to take note that we will not be closed next week. We are still going on vacation, but our new full-time employee, Alana, will be taking the reins. Please be gentle; she just started this week. Also, Laundromutt will be closed Easter Sunday, March 27th. Be sure to make YourDog look its best for Easter Sunday.

• Grooming (part deux)

Our most exciting news is still our grooming service, but for different reasons! As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Alana Helstowski has joined Team Laundromutt as our first full-time employee. When Alana is not working her magic up in the grooming room, she will be helping us keep the rest of the store functioning. Alana is outgoing, gregarious and has a certain “je ne sais quoi” with canines. Brumby continually jumps into her car “by accident” when we all go home for the night. I would ask that you introduce yourself next time you come to Laundromutt, but she will probably beat you to the punch.

• Wash, Dry & Fold

It has started. Go pick up those desperately needed office supplies at Staples or groceries at Whole Foods while the dog gets washed. The service consists of a bath, a towel or blow dry and your choice of shampoo. Pricing is the same as our self-service menu, plus a modest service charge. If YourDog is muddy, sandy and a little stinky, this service is for you. If YourDog has mats in its coat or is covered with burrs, we will ask that you set up a grooming appointment with Alana. Please call ahead, as this service can only be offered on the weekdays and when we have an extra staff person. Our goal is to offer the "Wash, Dry & Fold" service every weekday, particularly in the evenings.

• The Skunk Hotline

Yes, the big red phone has been dormant for a few months now. Yet, just the other night Brumby came face to face with black & white- and I’m not talking about a patrol car. The little bugger spun around and my heart stopped. But he turned and ran off, granting us a reprieve. This could be a busy, skunky spring. Next week only, the Skunk Hotline will be defunct. Elizabeth and I will be in Colorado and I did not have the heart to put that responsibility on Alana so soon. I promise I will do a no-skunk-dance everyday we are gone.

• Pick of the Month

February’s pick was Musher's Secret: a wax that protects dog's feet from burning salt on the sidewalk. This month’s pick is the Orbee Dog Bone by Planet Dog. Orbee is the short way of saying “super-resilient, extremely tough, quite flexible, peppermint–scented, and buoyant.” We carry three sizes: small, large and an earth-friendly, recycled mid-size. The Orbee Dog Bone is not only well built, it is also aesthetically pleasing to both dog and human. After all, if we only had toys that the dogs preferred, our floors would be covered with sticks and other unpleasant detritus.

• Lave Canem

At Laundromutt, we believe that our clients are our best advertisements. We always appreciate you spreading the word about our little operation. If you know of other dogs and their owners, please forward this email on to them. And, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please give us a call or drop us an email.

Cheers,

Elizabeth, Evan, Maya and Brumby
